    Yes yes yes

I got 4 of these bags with 3 friends who I travel with all the time in the black. Someone below said they don’t care for the shiny look but don’t let that persuade you because in person it looks SO GOOD. Probably one of the more quality Patagonia items I own, We stack them all in the back of the sprinter for a long weekend trip to the mountains and it’s so much better than 4 random suitcases/bags that seem much bulkier because these stack really well. Can’t wait for more trips with them!

      Its the best

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'll be using this bag for the first time this coming week on a ski trip to Colorado. I've been able to pack all my ski clothes and regular clothes in here so far(not including boots, they have a seperate bag)

So roomy and the material it's made of is bombproof.

      Favorite Duffel

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my second black hole duffel. I have one in the 60l and now 90l. These are the perfect duffels for anything. Weekend trips, plane trips, week long adventures. They will hold up and look good for years to come.

      no shoulder strap

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So I was really excited about this duffle bag because of the strong denier material and TPU coating. It's built really well and is true to its name with a ton of room, but I'm really disappointed and kind of confused about the lack of a traditional should carry. It has the two handles and the two backpack style straps, but if you want to carry it on one shoulder like a normal duffle bag, the shoulder strap will shift the bag all the way to your back and make the bag sag, instead of resting on your hip. I understand adding a shoulder strap but taking the normal functionality of a regular duffle bag seems kind of silly. I'd say if you're just looking for a duffle to use for airline travel, find something else. If you're only throwing this from your front door into a truck, go for it

      Exactly What You Need

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you are looking at this bag, you probably have a very specific use in mind. You may simply be wondering if it is going to perform as well as you think it would. Let me help you answer that question... YES. When people ask us which size to buy we generally say both the 45L and the 90L. While we love the 45L and use it all the time as a carry on bag, the 90L is simply irreplaceable. It has safely carried my scuba gear 3 continents and has no problems fitting my BCD, Regulator, Fins, Mask, Snorkel, and Wet Suit. This is a large bag and built tuff. The U-Shaped flap makes access in and out of the bag a breeze and our only real grip with the bag is the fact that its not completely waterproof. We think you are going to love this bag and would be surprised if it does not suit your needs. To see our full review with more photos check out our site here:

      Exactly What You Need

      It is a perfect duffel!

Family of 6 used both the Patagonia and the Marmot duffels for two week safari. Patagonia won for ease of use and keeping it's shape. My daughter and I even took ours to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro. It did a great job, space, water resistance, kept looking good now matter what it was put through!

        Pack It Up

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Black Hole duffel is the ideal travel bag; durable, water resistant, and can carry tons of gear.

This duffel is designed to last a lifetime and I bring it everywhere with me. I can throw my mountain bike gear, camping stuff, or ski equipment for quick trips.

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I absolutely love all the Black Hole Bags! Make amazing travel bags. I got the 90 L bag to travel through SE Asia and it was perfect! Easy to slang around, tough and water resistant which is very helpful for carrying through crowded streets when it is raining! Love how it shrinks down and expands to accommodate the things I bought over seas! I have also used this bag on backcountry ski trips and is great on the back of a sled.

Patagonia Black Hole Series For The Win

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased this bag because I have the Black Hole backpack and have been very happy with it as an everyday backpack (or extended trip). Needless to say I am nothing but pleased with this duffel and am already contemplating which to get next. Also, it fits in the overhead compartment on an airplane. 5 stars.

Great bag for loading a full weekend

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely love this bag for loading up my entire weekend adventures. Fits my 3 person tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag and a weekends worth of clothes. Awesome little pouches for storing a lot of different hygiene stuff as well. The material on the outside is also super darn water/dirt resistant. Highly recommend this duffel.

It's the Black Hole--Say No More

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Whatever size you choose, these bags are TOUGH, well-designed in their simplicity, generally very waterproof (not to be interchanged with your dry bag, however) and nice looking. I have the 45, 60 and now the 90L. Since I tend to do multiple activities, and never know when and where a spontaneous one will crop up, I wanted one bag in my vehicle to keep everything in one place in my car (wow-leg room for everyone now). The 90L might have been a little overkill for that purpose--the 60 would have worked, but this way, nothing escapes. It will be doubling for my road-trips and other travel too.

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A size and color for all. tough and fits the weather. Love putting my bag on the ground while unloading the car at the ski-house without caring how wet or dirty the ground is.

        Rod tube sizing note

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

There’s not much that can be said about these that hasna??t already been covered. I’?ve dragged these around the world on planes, trains, trucks, cars, boats and various animals and they?'ve never let me down. Just one quick note about sizing. The 90L duffel fits a fly rod tube in it flat on the bottom but just barely. In fact I might not recommend it. I was noticing some abrasion on mine, but nothing a bit of patching couldn’t fix. But if you’re going to use this for fly fishing, I would consider sizing up just to get a bit of extra length to accommodate rod tubes.

        Like it

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought the 90L and it seems more spacious than expected. Planning to bring these to the backcountry for some kayaking and portaging -- we'll see how it goes. I wish the bags were waterproof but this seems to be the next best thing. Planning to use a couple heavy duty trash bags as liners. MSRP seems high in my opinion but I got the bag on sale and feel the price was reasonable.

        Unanswered Question

Is this bag long enough to accommodate a pair of 24" long hiking poles? They can't go in my carry on bag. Thanks

Would the 90L be able to accommodate two ski boots as well as clothing for a 5-7 day ski trip?

        Best Answer

Should be more than enough room for a pair of ski boots, a weeks worth of baselayers, an outer shell set, and some resort/around-town casual wear. Hope that helps, Adrian. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

        Is it waterproof?

        Best Answer

Hey Ashley - the short answer is yes, the Patagonia Black Hole Duffels are waterproof. The 900D polyester ripstop outer material and DWR finish will keep your belongings dry in most situations. I would not however recommend this for rafting or other water adventures where a true dry sack would be more appropriate. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
