    Super warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I usually wear a Large and did get a Large and it fit true to size, in my case. The jacket is super warm and can take on the cold winters here in Utah. Does look kind of flashy with the fur hood but if that's what you're shooting for while wearing it out then this is the one for you. Really like it and would recommend it to someone in need of a casual winter coat for their daily commutes and going out.

    Love/Hate the jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: L to M
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 170lbs

first the Jacket runs big, go a size down. 2nd Great jacket for a outdoor walk at the park or on a date. So far its kept me warm this winter.

Feels like a cheap knockoff jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I ordered this jacket because of the good reviews, but got disappointed with the quality of the material. It does not feel like a $299 jacket. The fabric feels cheap and weak at the touch. The zipper puller is made of a weak plastic type material. Even the tags look fake with the big misaligned “Made in China” print. I thought at the beginning that I got a fake North Face jacket. The fit is not right. All my jackets and clothes are Large size. When I tried this jacket, it was way too big, like a XL or XXL. I tried to exchange it, but the exchange policy with backcountry.com is a hassle and makes it so difficult to discourage customers from making exchanges. It would have taken about a month for the exchange, and I needed the jacket sooner than that. If TNF Gotham jacket is what you want to buy, don’t expect the best quality-price ratio for this product.

Excellent coat for the Nebraska cold!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 200lbs

This is a very good looking coat. It is lightweight comfortable and does an excellent job repelling the wind and cold. The faux fur hood looks great even if it's a little bit big for my head! I bought my North Face coat in Brown... And all my friends were saying don't by brown brown is ugly. When it arrived my friends quickly decided that it was a beautiful color!

    Color is deceiving

Ordered this for my new heavy winter coat and was so disappointed when I opened the box. I researched this coat directly from The North Face website as well as a couple other outfitters. Every picture the coat looks like a khaki/light tan color. When I opened up the box I was disappointed with the actual, what I call military surplus/light olive green color. Ita??s not a bad color but khaki goes with a more variety of clothing/pant color. The coat felt like it would be really warm and made of great quality but the color was not for me and I wish the picture would have depicted the actual green color. Still gave 5 stars because I think ita??s a great winter coat and quality materials. Fast shipping and easy return with Back Country!

      Too Large

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs large

As many others have stated, this jacket was too large at my usual size. The body and sleeves are too long, the collar comes up too high. There is an Extra Small available at the North Face website. All of my other North Face gear is size Small and fits fine.

      BAD A$$ JACKET!

      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 165lbs

This thing is warm! Looks stylish and able to handle all cold weather conditions. Fits great. Faux hood is a nice feature. All around, I will have this jacket a long time. It is my go to for the coldest days.

      Great jacket!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I bought this jacket for my boyfriend. And I’m so happy I did, because right after Christmas we got a week of below zero weather. This jacket has been a life saver in blustery 30 degree days as well as extreme temps. I definitely recommend this jacket.

      Super rad !!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Want the perfect jacket ? This is it ! this jacket is very warm and also very fresh ;) very well constructed and i have not had a problem with down falling out or anything ether. Defiantly recommend this jacket :)

      Decent jacket

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 185lbs

It's a pretty nice jacket, but there are a few small things that bother me about it and affect the conditions I'd wear it in. 1) the fur hood attached via buttons. Fine, but this allows wind to get through the flap holes which is a huge deal if you anticipate using this as winter coat. 2) the pockets for hands are not that large and are just lightly fleece lined. My hands get cold easily, so this is another big problem for cold conditions.
That's about it as far as the make or break features for me. Just know that it is 550 goose down so while it's warm, it's not all that warm, especially for it's large size. This makes it a cool weather jacket more than a winter coat, but it is too puffy for a cool weather jacket. I just don't think it serves a purpose on my wardrobe since I can't use it as a winter coat and it's a little large for a cool weather / mild winter coat.

Having said that, it is definitely one of the few styles you can get with a fur hood without breaking the bank. That would be the real purchasing decision.

      Great coat

Great coat, keeps me very warm during the cold and the ski mask built in has come in handy. My last few north face coats have lasted well over 10 years, so the quality from NF is always great.

        Best jacket ever

I bought this for the cold winters here in Utah. I was a little hesitant at first because of some of the reviews but I took a chance on it without trying it on and I love it. The fit is great. It's not bulky and it's not to heavy. It's just right, Especially for those cold windy days.

          ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: M
          • Height: 5'11"
          • Weight: 175lbs

when I ordered this I was a little bit worried that it was going to look puffy and big since well its a heavy duty coat you know, but once I got it I was just so so satisfied and happy to see that it fits perferct to my anatomy and it does not make me look huge, very nice and of course super warm and very versatile for really cold to ok cold .. just very wearable.. love it

          warm for midwest snow

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: ex large (too big)
          • Height: 5'11"
          • Weight: 190lbs

I bought this coat to block the cold, snow, and cutting wind. This coat is a bit puffy overall, but certainly worth every penny. The coat has good pockets, high quality zippers, and nice hood. I removed the fur part on the hood as it just snaps on and off. The coat looks nice, feels great, and will keep you warm in ANY setting! If you are not doing any active sports, this will be the go to coat.

          Solid and Comfortable Jacket

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: XL
          • Height: 6'5"
          • Weight: 210lbs

Was debating between this jacket and the Patagonia Wannaka. Ended up with this based on the neck gator which is key during the Chicago winters. 15 minute walk to the train and this jacket is keeping me warm and comfy! Plus the 30% off sale made it hard to pass up. Usually wear a Large for a more snug slim fit but for winter, definitely went with an XL.

          Hey Mike!
I am ordering this jacket on monday and was wondering if you could give me some advice. Because i'm also 6'5", around 210lbs i'm looking to get XL, but people say that it is a larger fit so i'm thinking about L. So i want to ask you, how are you satisfied with an XL? Is there any chance that you send me a picture of how it looks on you?

          Best regards,
          Strahinja
